Border Fire Burns Over 1,000 Acres First Night

INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 1-24-25 2:30 am
LOCATION: Otay Lakes Rd
AREA/CITY: Jamul
DETAILS:

1. The fire has started to burn to the north and is moving at a moderate pace.
2. Sky Dive San Diego is currently in the path of the fire.
3. The fire is at over 1,000 acres and growing.
4. Otay Lakes Rd is closed at Wueste Rd in Chula Vista by the CHP.
5. More firefighting resources are being rushed into the scene.
6. Ash from this fire is falling in San Diego, National City, and Chula Vista as the winds have shifted.

Update: 4:30 am

The fire is now moving to the northeast. Nighttime flying fire helicopters are making water drops. Pio Pico Campground has been evacuated to the east. The winds have died down.
