Bizarre Double Fatal Motorcycle Crash

INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 9-27-24 | 12:00a
LOCATION: Artesia east of Long Beach Blvd
AREA/CITY: North Long Beach
DETAILS:

Off camera — Per a witness, who lives in the apartments next to the crash, he heard loud motorcycles and looked out his window… He saw four motorcycles traveling west on Artesia away from him and went back to doing what he was doing. Less than thirty seconds later he heard them coming back his way and heard a loud bang/crash. He went outside and saw two Harley type motorcycles crashed into each other next to a work-van with both riders down. One rider was under the van and was pulled out by paramedics. They immediately performed CPR on the male victim, after about five minutes he was pronounced deceased.

The second victim/rider, a male, was treated and transported by LBFD with legs injuries. The other motorcycles that were heard by the witness were not seen in the area.

There is construction in the area, and it’s possible the motorcycles were headed west on Artesia and made a U-turn into the eastbound (closed) lanes and sped off with two of the riders crashing into each other causing the crash.

All east and west lanes of Artesia closed from Long Beach to Muriel Ave
