Bellfort HPD In Custody Death In Houston, TX
INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 5-22-25 / 7:55 pm
LOCATION: 7625 W Bellfort Ave
AREA/CITY: Houston
DETAILS:
- HPD units located a stolen vehicle in the 8700 block of W Bellfort Ave.
- Officer’s attempted to make a traffic stop on that vehicle but the driver did not stop and a pursuit ensued.
- FOX air unit was over head which allowed the patrol vehicle’s to stay back a distance.
- The suspect struck a civilian vehicle that was traveling westbound that was attempting to make a u-turn.
- The crash caused the civilian to be ejected from his vehicle.
- The suspect crashed into a pole that caused and electrical fire.
- Officer’s started life saving measures on the civilian.
- At the same time HFD extinguished the electrical fire near the suspect’s vehicle.
- Officer’s and HFD attempted to extricate the suspect out of the vehicle.
- The suspect pulled a firearm from his waste band and shot himself one time.
- He was pronounced deceased at the scene by HFD.
- The civilian was transported by ambulance but later pronounce deceased.
- Investigation is on going.
- The civilians appears to be a male Hispanic in his 40’s.
- The suspect appears to be a male Black in his mid 20’s.
