Beaumont: Apple Fire Explodes To 1,900+ Acres Overnight
08.01.2020 | 11:00 AM | BEAUMONT – A fast-moving brush fire dubbed the Apple Fire in Cherry Valley exploded to over 1,900 acres overnight and destroyed at least one home prompting mandatory evacuations.
Two possible arson fires were reported near Apple Tree Lane and Oak Glen Road around 5:00 PM.
The two fires merged into one by 5:45 PM and a third possible arson fire was reported at around 7:00 PM.
Overnight the fires combined and spread to over 1,900 acres burning at least one home.
Over 1,000 residents from 150 homes in the Banning Ranch area were ordered to evacuate while the fire raged on.
By Saturday morning at 11:00 AM no containment was reported.
The cause of the fires are under investigation.
