Barstow: High-Speed Pursuit Ends When Car Catches Fire

11.24.2018 | 4:00 AM | BARSTOW – A high-speed pursuit of a suspect wanted out of San Gabriel ended when the suspect’s caught fire, early Saturday morning.

Officers were pursuing a suspect wanted by the San Gabriel Police Department for unknown reason across numerous freeways around 4:00 AM.

During the lengthy pursuit reaching speeds of over 100+ MPH, the suspect drove off road and into a desert before his vehicle became stuck and began catching fire.

Officers quickly converged on the vehicle with weapons drawn and pulled the driver from the vehicle.

Shortly after, the car burst into flames. Firefighters responded to control the fire before it could spread to nearby brush.

The San Gabriel Police Department responded to take custody of the suspect.
