Barricaded Suspect Lights Building on Fire, Killing Them Self

- This sounds like a pursuit from Kent that transitioned into Auburn, with the suspect exiting the vehicle and becoming holed up in this location. That part has not yet been verified
- Once this became a standoff, Valley SWAT was activated, which turned into a multi-hour standoff.
- At 14:36, Fire Crews and medic one were toned out for a commercial fire. It is currently believed the suspect set the fire while still inside the building. And the suspect was not exiting.
- Once on fire, crews were told to stage and not engage as the scene was unsafe.
- Eventually, it escalated to a second alarm before the crews standing by could engage.
- Once it was believed that no one could survive, crews began working the fire offensively.
- It’s belied at this point. The suspect is deceased somewhere inside the building but had not been located as of 17:30, according to those working the scene.
- Other businesses were also affected by the fire.
- A Renton PIO was on the scene.
