Barricaded Man With Sniper Shoots at Deputies
INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 10:30am 09-10-24
LOCATION: 4300 Hitch Road
AREA/CITY: Moorpark
DETAILS:
- Deputies responded to an unknown call for service at the above location
- The man was in possession of 3 handguns and 2 rifles
- Per the commander for Moorpark station all deputies except SWAT were backed up to Hitch Road and Los Angeles Avenue due to the suspect shooting a “high power rifle” appearing to have long range similar to a sniper
- A reverse 911 was issued for all residents in the Hitch Road community to shelter in place and many residents have slowly been evacuated
- Deputies are still on scene of the incident and the man is still barricaded
- Resources are on scene from all around the county including a helicopter, drones, swat, SEU, negotiators, bearcats from VC Sheriff and Simi Valley Police, and a mobile command post.
- Traffic is severely impacted in the area
- Suspect still outstanding and negotiators are reporting at least one gunshot was heard and the man is still talking after it which confirmed it is not self inflicted
