Azusa: One Rescued, Another Missing After Car Plunges Into San Gabriel Reservoir
07.02.2020 | 10:23 PM | AZUSA – One person was rescued but another person is still missing after a car plunged into the San Gabriel Reservoir, Thursday night.
Authorities responded to reports of a Chevrolet Camaro that had crashed through a chain link fence off Route 39 before falling into the San Gabriel River below around 10:23 PM.
Crews arriving in the area searched for hours to locate victims from the crash and eventually a passenger in the reservoir around 4:00 AM.
A helicopter rescued the passenger, later identified as 26-year-old Andres Peralta of Azusa, who suffered only minor injuries.
The driver of the vehicle was not immediately located and may have been trapped in the submerged vehicle.
Additional search efforts are expected to resume in the morning.
