AZDPS Stolen Vehicle Task Force Detective Injured In Crash | Phoenix

10.08.2022 | 12:40 AM | PHOENIX – Task force units were attempting to locate a stolen vehicle being tracked by the AZDPS air unit when the collision occurred. The detective was travelling north on 35th Avenue near Holly Street when a black sedan travelling westbound struck the detectives unmarked pickup truck. The truck was thrown across several lanes and collided with a fire hydrant. Additional task force members and troopers responded to the scene to assist. Fire crews arrived a short time later and transported the detective to a local hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the sedan was uninjured but was taken into custody following a field sobriety test. Impairment is suspected but not yet confirmed. DPS is investigating the collision.
