AZ DPS Deploy Grappler Device To Stop Pursuit

DETAILS:
- According to DPS radio traffic:
- DPS troopers were temporarily shutting down the I-10 near Avondale Boulevard to assist a disabled motorist just before midnight.
- As troopers shut down the eastbound I-10 a Toyota RAV4 drove through the closure.
- Troopers attempted to stop the car, however the vehicle did not yield to troopers and continued driving.
- A pursuit was initiated as the car continued East on the I-10.
- Troopers deployed several spike strips along the I-10, eventually successfully hitting the tires near the US-60.
- A trooper was able to deploy a Grappler Police Bumper on the vehicle causing it to become disabled near Baseline Road.
- I-10 was temporarily closed as negotiations with the driver to surrender began.
- The driver was eventually taken into custody and the interstate was reopened.
