Attempted Murder Suspect Leads CHP on Multi-County Pursuit
On April 5, 2026, California Highway Patrol officers attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation near Interstate 15 and Outlet Center Drive in Barstow. The driver failed to yield, prompting a pursuit that extended through multiple counties.
During the pursuit, the driver reportedly called 911, and after being identified, authorities determined the suspect was wanted in connection with an attempted murder. CHP officers deployed multiple spike strips during the chase, successfully disabling the vehicle with at least one set.
The pursuit ultimately came to an end when officers conducted a PIT maneuver on the northbound 15 Freeway just south of Outlet Center Drive. The suspect was taken into custody, and the investigation remains ongoing.
