Attempted Carjacking With Shots Fired At Fashion Island

INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 8-27-24, 11:36 p.m.
LOCATION: Two locations, 1- Fashion Island, 401 Newport Center Drive. 2nd location (Chevron) 2546 East Coast Highway
AREA/CITY: Newport Beach
DETAILS:

  1. According to Lieutenant Mike Shiavi with Newport Beach Police Department, officers responded to a reported robbery with shots fired in a parking lot at Fashion Island.
  2. At this time, there are two different victims: A man in a Rolls Royce and a man in a Ferrari.
  3. The suspects are three men, at least one with a handgun.
  4. The victim in the Rolls Royce was robbed at gunpoint and jewelry was taken.
  5. Then, the suspects tried to car jack the man in the Ferrari, he fled and a window was blown out of the vehicle as he fled. It does not appear that anything was taken from that victim. His car came to rest at the Chevron.
  6. No injuries have been reported.
  7. It is unknown if the two victims know one another.
