Attempted Carjacking With Shots Fired At Fashion Island
INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 8-27-24, 11:36 p.m.
LOCATION: Two locations, 1- Fashion Island, 401 Newport Center Drive. 2nd location (Chevron) 2546 East Coast Highway
AREA/CITY: Newport Beach
DETAILS:
- According to Lieutenant Mike Shiavi with Newport Beach Police Department, officers responded to a reported robbery with shots fired in a parking lot at Fashion Island.
- At this time, there are two different victims: A man in a Rolls Royce and a man in a Ferrari.
- The suspects are three men, at least one with a handgun.
- The victim in the Rolls Royce was robbed at gunpoint and jewelry was taken.
- Then, the suspects tried to car jack the man in the Ferrari, he fled and a window was blown out of the vehicle as he fled. It does not appear that anything was taken from that victim. His car came to rest at the Chevron.
- No injuries have been reported.
- It is unknown if the two victims know one another.
