Artesia: One Dead After Fiery Freeway Crash

06.05.2019 | 2:10 PM | ARTESIA – One person was dead after their car struck a tree and caught fire, Wednesday morning.

Authorities responded to reports of a traffic collision with fire on the eastbound SR-91 just east of Pioneer Boulevard around 2:10 AM.

Units arriving on scene found a vehicle that apparently struck a tree before becoming engulfed in flames.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames but the driver was located deceased inside.

A motorcyclist also crashed just past the scene of the initial accident and had to be transported to an area hospital.

The circumstances surrounding both collisions remain under investigation.
