Arsonist Starts Five Brush Fires, Then Arrested | Santa Clarita

5.19.21 | 7:00 PM | SANTA CLARITA (CNS) – A possible arson suspect was detained in connection with a roughly three-acre brush fire burning in Santa Clarita Wednesday evening

The fire was reported at about 7 p.m. in the Santa Clara Riverbed in the area of Valencia Boulevard and Bouquet Canyon Road, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department announced at about 8:45 p.m. that the progress of the fire had been stopped, though the area of McBean Parkway and Avenue Scott was closed to allow fire crews to continue containment efforts.

No structures were threatened by the fire.

The fire was initially reported by a civilian who said they saw a person lighting the fire, CBS2 reported.
