Arrest Made Two Years Later on Fatal Hit & Run | Otay Mesa

03.23.2022 | OTAY MESA – On March 5, 2020 at 9:14 a.m., 21-year-old female, Brescia Ayon, was crossing
in a marked crosswalk at the intersection of Otay Mesa Road and Otay Mesa Center in the
Otay Mesa neighborhood of San Diego. While crossing, a vehicle traveling westbound on
Otay Mesa Road failed to stop at the red signal light and struck Ayon as she was crossing.
After the collision, the vehicle fled the scene. Ayon sustained fatal injuries and died at the
scene.

After an extensive investigation, San Diego Police Department Traffic Investigators
identified the driver of the suspect vehicle as 47-year- old Estevan Fabian Corona. An
arrest warrant was issued for Corona for felony manslaughter and felony hit and run. On
March 20, 2022, at 5:48 p.m., Corona was contacted at the U.S. border crossing at 700 E.
San Ysidro Blvd. Corona was arrested and booked into County Jail.
