Armed Suspect Pursuit Ends In Hesperia Desert
A search for an armed suspect prompted a pursuit and deployment of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Specialized Enforcement Division in the Hesperia area Tuesday afternoon.
At approximately 3:30 p.m. on August 18, 2026, deputies from the Victorville Station responded to the 15100 block of Bear Valley Road following a report of a man with a gun.
The suspect allegedly fled the area at a high rate of speed, leading deputies into Hesperia.
The pursuit eventually ended in a desert area near Summit Valley Road, south of Hesperia Airport, where the suspect was last seen.
The Sheriff’s Specialized Enforcement Division was called in to assist with the search. Air Rescue 308 landed at Hesperia Airport, picked up SED personnel and flew them into the area where the suspect was believed to be hiding.
San Bernardino County Fire medical personnel were staged nearby as the operation continued.
As of the latest information from the scene, it was not known whether the suspect had been taken into custody.
The incident remains ongoing.
