Armed Suspect Killed In Tustin Police Shooting
A woman was found dead and an armed man was fatally shot by police following a reported domestic violence incident Monday afternoon in Tustin.
At approximately 2:30 p.m. on August 24, 2026, officers responded to the Briarwood Apartments in the 1400 block of Walnut Avenue following reports of a domestic violence incident.
According to the Tustin Police Department, officers contacted a man at the residence and discovered an unresponsive woman lying on the floor.
Police said the man was armed with a knife and advanced toward officers, resulting in an officer-involved shooting.
Officers immediately began lifesaving measures on the man, but he was ultimately pronounced deceased at the scene.
Investigators also determined the woman was deceased and said she may have been dead for some time before officers arrived.
The relationship between the man and woman, as well as the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death, remain under investigation.
The Orange County District Attorney’s Office responded to conduct an independent investigation into the officer-involved shooting.
