Armed Suspect Barricades Inside Highland Park Apartment

At approximately 10:00pm on March 22nd, 2026, Los Angeles Police Department officers responded to a barricade situation near Avenue 55 and North Figueroa Street in the Highland Park area of Los Angeles.

According to authorities, the incident began after a suspect allegedly assaulted family members during an altercation. The family initially did not report the incident, but after a second confrontation the following day, they contacted 911.

The suspect, believed to be armed, barricaded himself inside an apartment for several hours. LAPD SWAT responded and evacuated the surrounding apartment complex as a precaution.

Officers were eventually able to make entry into the apartment area, and the suspect surrendered without further incident.

The investigation remained ongoing.
