Armed Man With Hoe & Knife Arrested After Standoff | San Diego County

04.14.2022 | 11:56 AM | SAN DIEGO COUNTY – The SDPD received calls from people working in their garden plots in the Community Garden, that a man was walking around acting strange and waving large knives at the people. officers responded and found the man who did not cooperate with the officers’ commands and ran into a fenced-in garden lot with a large shed on the lot. The officers kept asking him to step out and drop the knives, but he would not obey. After approx 30 minutes, the male came out of the structure and was waving a garden hoe around and then a long wooden candle stake. At one point he threw an object at the officers. The male was pepper-sprayed at one point and he fled back into the shed. Officers used the pepper spray a second time and the male finally surrendered. It’s not known if the male has mental issues, is intoxicated, or both and he will be evaluated. There were several beer cans around and in the shed.
