Arlington Heights: Full-Size SUV Shears Hydrant

10.02.2019 | 2:41 AM | LOS ANGELES – Police are investigating after an SUV struck a fire hydrant and downed a light pole, early Wednesday morning.

Authorities responded to reports of a traffic collision involving a fire hydrant near the intersection of Arlington and 21st Street in the Arlington Heights area around 2:41 AM.

Units arriving on scene located a large SUV that had struck a fire hydrant and light pole causing a large geyser of water to spew.

Firefighters worked to quickly secured the flow of water to the hydrant while treating a male victim found near the vehicle.

The man was transported to an area hospital in unknown condition.

Officers are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
