Arleta: Suspicious Fire Destroys Home, Garage & Car
01.01.2020 | 12:04 AM | LOS ANGELES – A suspicious fire possibly caused by illegal New Year’s fireworks destroyed a home, a detached garage, and a car, early Wednesday morning.
Authorities responded to reports of structure fire burning in the 13100 block of Bracken Street in the Arleta area minutes into the new year at 12:04 AM.
Crews arriving on scene located an outdoor fire that had spread to a car, a detached garage, and a home.
Firefighters doused the flames and extinguished the bulk of the fire within 40 minutes.
Four residents were displaced as a result of the fire but no injuries were reported.
A battalion chief on scene reported the fire was suspicious in nature and may have been caused by illegal fireworks.
Several fireworks were found in the area where the fire originated but the cause remains under investigation.
