Apple: Valley: Driver Dead, Passenger Critically Injured After Crash Into Big Rig

07.25.2019 | 2:29 PM | APPLE VALLEY – One person was dead and another critically injured after the vehicle the couple was traveling in collided with a stopped big rig, Thursday evening.

Authorities responded to reports of a crash involving a big rig along the northbound I-15 near the Bell Mountain and Stoddard Well off ramp around 2:29 PM.

Units arriving on scene located a pickup truck that had sustained major damage after colliding with a big rig parked on the shoulder of the freeway.

Firefighter paramedics worked to free the driver of the pickup truck who was trapped in the wreckage but determined they were deceased on scene.

A passenger from the pickup truck was found on the ground suffering from serious injuries and was flown to Loma Linda Medical Center via Mercy Air.

Several lanes were closed while officers continued to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
