Apartment Fire Displaces Multiple Families In Houston

A late-night apartment fire displaced multiple families and injured a Houston firefighter Sunday night.

At approximately 11:00 p.m. on July 6, 2026, Houston Fire Department crews responded to reports of a fire at a third-floor apartment in the 10900 block of Meadowglen Lane.

Firefighters encountered challenges upon arrival due to the distance between nearby fire hydrants and the apartment buildings, as well as access issues within the gated community. Despite the obstacles, crews launched an aggressive attack and quickly brought the fire under control.

No civilian injuries were reported.

One Houston Fire Department safety officer was injured during the response and transported to a local hospital in stable condition. Two additional firefighters were evaluated at the scene.

Officials said 12 apartment units were affected by the fire, though the total number of displaced residents has not been released.

Houston Fire Department Arson investigators responded to determine the cause of the blaze.

The investigation remains ongoing.
