Apartment Explosion Injures One

DETAILS:
- Many residents were displaced Thursday night after an apartment unit exploded, prompting a large response
- Authorities were called to the area regarding an apartment house Fire
- Upon arrival, firefighters located the upstairs part of the apartment building charged with smoke, however, there was no fire
- Upon further investigation, they discovered that a downstairs unit had explode,d with at least one male who injured his hand
- Paramedics assessed him and evacuated all residents from the building. However, the male was not transported to the hospital.
- As of now, there is currently 5 pounds of unexploded fuel located inside the unit of origin. All residents are to stay out of the building until further notice as hazmat coordinators work to mitigate the situation.
- Fire officials have requested additional support for the displaced residents.
The LASD Bomb Squad is at the scene to handle the unexploded rocket fuel.
