Anaheim: Raging Fire Engulfs Building, Killing Family Pets
05.26.2019 | 10:51 PM | ANAHEIM – Firefighters extinguished a stubborn fire that broke out in an apartment building and killed family pets, Sunday night.
Authorities responded to numerous calls reporting smoke and fire coming from a two-story apartment building in the 2100 block of West Brownwood Avenue around 10:51 PM.
Crews arriving on scene found a chaotic scene with residents reporting animals trapped inside and heavy fire coming from a first-floor apartment.
Firefighters initiated an aggressive fire attack and entered the burning building to search for any victims.
A dog was rescued from the building but succumbed to its injuries despite resuscitative efforts. Additional reports indicate a cat was later located deceased inside the building.
One man suffered burns to his hand as he tried to enter the building to rescue his pets.
A total of 10 people were displaced as a result of the fire which remains under investigation.
