Anaheim: Pursuit Ends With Suspect Jumping Off Freeway Overpass, Being Fatally Struck By Car

07.23.2020 | 11:50 PM | ANAHEIM – A man who lead officers on a high-speed pursuit jumped off a freeway overpass and was fatally struck by a passing motorist, late Thursday night.

Officers were in pursuit of a male suspect in a white sedan but called off the pursuit while a police helicopter followed the vehicle.

Moments later the driver exited the southbound I-5 Freeway at Euclid street and crashed into a wall on the overpass.

Police in the area contacted the suspect who refused to follow commands and eventually bolted from his vehicle.

The suspect jumped over the overpass wall and landed on the freeway after a 50-foot fall.

A passing motorist then struck and killed the suspect.

It was unclear what the suspect was wanted for.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
