Anaheim: High-Speed Crash Leaves One Dead, Another Injured

07.28.2020 | 7:40 PM | ANAHEIM – A high-speed crash into a pole left one person dead and another injured, Tuesday night.

The crash was reported on the southbound I-5 Freeway just south of Brookhurst Street around 7:40 PM.

When crews arrived on scene they located a black 2016 Chevrolet Malibu with two occupants that had crashed into a pole.

The driver of the vehicle was rushed to an area hospital for treatment while crews worked to free the passenger who was trapped in the wreckage.

After about 30 minutes of cutting away at the vehicle the passenger was freed but ultimately declared deceased on scene.

Witnesses reported seeing the vehicle traveling at over 100 MPH when it lost control and crashed into the pole.

The cause of the crash is under investigation and speed is being weighed as a potential factor.
