Ambulance Transporting Patient Catches Fire on the I-15

- An Escondido Fire Dept ambulance was transporting a child to Rady Children’s Hospital along with his father after they were involved in an accident earlier in the morning in the City of Escondido.
- As the Paramedics were driving south on the I-15, they noticed smoke coming from the engine compartment.
- As the smoke worsened, they pulled over to the right shoulder.
- The engine soon caught fire, and the Paramedics evacuated the patient and his father from the ambulance.
- When SDFD firefighters arrived, the front section of the ambulance was fully involved in flames.
- No one was injured in the fire.
