Adult Son Arrested After Fatally Stabbing His Dad

On Saturday, September 27, 2025, at approximately 4:17 p.m., Riverside Police and Fire personnel responded to reports of a stabbing in the 3400 block of Bahia Place.
Riverside Fire Department paramedics arrived and found a 74-year-old man, later identified as Crispin Rendon, lying in the driveway with multiple stab wounds. He was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
The suspect was identified as the victim’s adult son, 36-year-old David Rendon. Officers attempted negotiations for more than two hours before the suspect surrendered to SWAT officers and was safely taken into custody.
Detectives from the Robbery–Homicide Unit, assisted by the Forensics Unit, Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office, and Riverside County District Attorney’s Office, assumed the investigation. Preliminary information suggests the suspect may have been experiencing a mental health crisis when he fatally attacked his father.
David Rendon was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center for murder and is being held on $1,000,000 bail.
