5 Injured After Pursuit Suspect Crashes | Encinitas

04.24.2022 | 8:27 AM | ENCINITAS – The CHP attempted to stop the male driver of a Nissan on the northbound I-5 who was speeding and driving erratically. The driver and his 3 passengers fled at high speed and the CHP pursued. The driver exited onto Encinitas Blvd and went east. At the intersection of Via Cantebria and Encinitas Blvd., the driver ran the “red” light and collided with 2 other vehicles. The Volkswagen had 1 female and her dog and neither were injured. The SUV had the female driver and her 2 small children. The children were transported to Rady’s Children’s Hospital with unknown injuries. The driver and two of his passengers from the suspect vehicle were transported with major injuries according to the Encinitas Fire Battalion Chief. The 4th person in the car was not injured.
