300+ Catalytic Converters Recovered In Bust | Houston

08.18.2021 | 6:00 PM | HOUSTON – North East Officers responded to a theft at the 4400 block of Lockwood Dr. Officers arrived and located two male suspects and several hundred stolen catalytic converters. The suspects were at a used sales car lot, it is unclear if they are employees or owners of the business. The two males are detained at this point. Officers located 300-400 catalytic converters that had been cut off cars. Officers seized the catalytic converters and will take them to the property room. Officers will attempt to locate the owners of the catalytic converters however that may be difficult since they aren’t serialized. Law enforcement urges people to etch their license plate numbers into catalytic converters, weld brackets around the cats to prevent theft or even spray paint them with a high temp paint to make them more identifiable in the event they are stolen.
