28 Year Old Hits Two Pedestrians and Flees

DETAILS:

  1. A male & a Female, both in their 20’s, were in the crosswalk on Grand Ave when they were hit by the male driver of a Ford Explorer.
  2. Both victims were sent flying into the street, and the driver fled the scene at high speed.
  3. Witnesses gave the description of the Ford and the direction the driver fled in.
  4. SDPD officers flooded the area, discovered the driver on the 3700 block of Ingraham St., and pulled him over.
  5. The male victim suffered serious injuries, but the female suffered life-threatening injuries.
  6. Both victims were rushed to a local hospital.
  7. The driver was “Tested” and Arrested” for DUI and the Felony “Hit & Run”.
  8. Grand Ave is closed from Mission Blvd to Cass St for the investigation.
  9. At one point, a male driver of another car almost hit two officers and went past the patrol vehicle that was blocking eastbound Grand Ave.
  10. Other officers were able to stop the driver.
  11. He was ticketed for “Unauthorized Entry into an Emergency Scene, Reckless Driving, and Speed”.

Synopsis:
A30-year-old female and a 28-year-old male were legally crossing Grand Avenue, southbound in the
crosswalk at Bayard Street. A 28 year old male was driving westbound on 900 Grand Avenue approaching
Bayard Street when he failed to stop at the red light. The male driver struck both parties and fled the scene.
The male driver was later located and taken into custody. The female and male pedestrians were transported
to a local hospital to be treated for multiple fractures. Alcohol was a factor. Traffic units responded and will
be handling.
