Suspect Arrested after Fatal Stabbing at Riverside House Party

SUSPECT ARRESTED IN STABBING MURDER AT HOUSE PARTY
RIVERSIDE, CA – On Sunday, March 3, 2024 at approximately 12:20 a.m., Riverside Police Officers responded a house in the 3400 block of Gay Way, for complaints of a loud party at the location. The party began to shut down and officers remained in the area as partygoers were leaving. A short time later, officers were notified someone had been stabbed. They returned to the residence and found two male individuals suffering from stab wounds. Officers immediately began life-saving measures on a 17-year-old victim until paramedics arrived, but he was pronounced deceased at the scene. An 18-year-old victim was taken to a local hospital with a non-life threatening wound.
While still at the scene, our Public Safety Communications Center received a call stating there was person suffering from a head injury nearby on Helena Avenue and Crowell Avenue. This individual was taken to a local hospital for medical treatment where officers learned he was the suspect in the stabbing.
Detectives with the Robbery – Homicide Unit, along with specialists from the Forensics Unit, responded and assumed the investigation. They are being assisted by the Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office and Riverside County District Attorney’s Office.
Subsequent to their investigation, detectives arrested 19-year-old Alexandro Romero for murder. He was later booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center and is being held without bail.
