- Phoenix Fire crews and police responded to a report of a three vehicle collision on Thunderbird Road at the I-17 interchange shortly after 11PM Monday evening with one vehicle reportedly on fire.
- Police arrived and located a fully involved white Chevy Camaro with an unresponsive passenger trapped.
- Police attempted to extricate the trapped occupant but were unsuccessful.
- Firefighters arrived and began extinguishing the flames before removing the passenger and rushing them to the hospital.
- One person was found unresponsive on the sidewalk and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
- The driver of the Camaro fled the scene and was located at a nearby QT where he was detained before being transported to a local area hospital.
