19-Year-Old Critically Wounded In I-45 Freeway Shooting

A 19-year-old man was critically wounded after someone opened fire on a pickup truck traveling along I-45 in Houston late Sunday night.

At approximately 11:40 p.m. on August 9, 2026, patrol officers traveling along the I-45 feeder road near Glenborough Drive noticed a truck stopped along the side of the road.

When officers stopped to investigate, they discovered the truck had been struck by gunfire multiple times and a 19-year-old man riding in the back seat had been shot.

The victim was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

According to witnesses, the shooting occurred somewhere along I-45 near Airline Drive. The occupants told investigators they were traveling on the freeway when an unknown vehicle pulled alongside their truck and someone fired several rounds into it.

No information regarding the suspect vehicle or shooter was immediately available.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation.
