18 Yr Old Dead After Crashing Into Parked Semi Truck, Riverside, CA

According to CHP, Riverside PIO, Javier Navarro, On February 3, 2026 at 3:16 a.m., CHP units responded to a call of a crash involving a silver Honda Civic vs. a semi truck on Meridian Parkway just south of Innovation Drive.  Preliminary investigation revealed that the Honda Civic had rear ended a stopped semi truck.  The driver of the Honda, a 18 year old male sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced deceased by fire personnel. At this time it is not clear if drugs are alcohol were a factor in the crash, until toxicology becomes available. The semi was stopped on the side of the road, in front of the “No Stopping Bike Lane” sign for a few minutes to check to see if the gate was open to enter a facility.  The driver re-entered to move the semi and felt the impact. The driver of the semi wasn’t cited at the scene. The roadway was straight in that area so it isn’t clear why the car veered to the right and hit the truck.
