18-Year-Old Killed In Off-Road Vehicle Crash

At approximately 7:05 p.m. on June 7, 2026, California Highway Patrol officers responded to a fatal collision involving three off-highway vehicles on Gunther Road south of McIntyre Road in Romoland.

According to investigators, the crash involved a 2024 Can-Am and two Yamaha all-terrain vehicles. For reasons still under investigation, all three vehicles collided with one another.

An 18 year-old Romoland resident riding one of the Yamaha ATVs was ejected during the collision and struck the roadway.

Fire personnel responded to the scene and pronounced the rider deceased due to his injuries.

Authorities have not released the victim’s identity pending notification of family members.

CHP investigators stated that alcohol and drugs do not appear to have been factors in the crash.

The California Highway Patrol Accident Investigation Unit is continuing to investigate the circumstances leading up to the collision and is asking any witnesses who may have observed the crash to come forward.
