16 Car Pile Up Shuts Down HWY 189 As Heavy Snow Pounds Mountains | San Bernardino

On hwy 189 on one of the steepest roads in the area, it was reported that there were over 2 dozen vehicles stuck with around 16 of them involved in a multi-vehicle pile up. On the steep highway a chain reaction started after several vehicles became stuck cause other vehicles to come around steep blind corners. one by one the vehicles started colliding into each other causing the pile up. Ultimately the pile up completely blocked the entire highway and as more vehicles approached they were forced to stop ultimately causing more vehicles to get stuck. some good samaritans with a large pick up truck worked by themselves for several hours to free the vehicles one by one. the road was closed for over 4 hours. The road is now cleared and open.
