10 Vehicles Destroyed in Fire

LOCATION: 945 Heritage Rd
AREA/CITY: San Diego
DETAILS:
- An unknown cause of fire broke out in a mechanic’s yard/junkyard.
- Chula Vista and San Diego Firefighters responded as the fire was upgraded to a 1st Alarm.
- Firefighters had difficulty getting a water supply, and the fog was extremely heavy, making it hard to find the fire.
- Explosions could be heard, and firefighters were finally able to make access.
- As they were fighting a 7-car fire in the 1st location, the fire spread to the junkyard next door, and 3 more cars and a trash dumpster caught on fire.
- The area’s fire hydrant (water supply) is approximately 1 mile away, so a Water Tanker and more Engines were called in to provide water to suppress the fire.
- No injuries were reported, and it’s not known if MAST will be called out to investigate.
