1-Year-Old Resuscitated After Drowning In Houston Bathtub

A 1-year-old girl was resuscitated and rushed to a pediatric hospital in critical condition after a reported bathtub drowning Saturday night in Houston.
Houston police and firefighters responded around 8 p.m. on October 4, 2026, to the 5200 block of Sherman Street after a 911 call reporting a child drowning.
First responders located the 1-year-old unresponsive after she had reportedly drowned in a bathtub. Medics performed CPR and were able to resuscitate the child before transporting her to an area pediatric hospital in critical condition.
Police said the child’s mother was home at the time with the 1-year-old and another child, who is 8 years old. It was not immediately known whether the mother was in the bathroom when the incident occurred.
Detectives were called to investigate the circumstances surrounding the drowning. At this early stage, authorities are investigating the incident as a tragic accident.
The investigation remains ongoing.
