1 Dead, 1 Injured In Fiery Crash

Per AZ DPS:
- A black vehicle, believed to be a Corvette or Camaro, was travelling west on interstate 10 near Dysart when it struck another vehicle.
- A nearby semi truck swerved to avoid the initial collision and struck the median wall.
- The semi burst into flames on impact triggering a massive fire.
- The speeding vehicle quickly caught fire as well.
- Dozens of firefighters from multiple west valley cities responded to battle the flames and triage any involved parties.
- The driver of the speeding vehicle, an adult male, fled from the crash scene on foot.
- DPS Troopers and Goodyear PD officers located the male off the highway completely nude.
- Units attempted to detain the male but a struggle ensued.
- A taser was deployed and officers were able to quickly take the suspect into custody.
- The suspect was transported to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
- The driver of the semi was pronounced deceased on scene.
- The suspect who ran will be taken into custody once released from the hospital.
- Impairment is being investigated as a possible factor.
- A hard closure was established in both directions for I-10 as a result of the crash.
- All traffic was diverted off at Dysart Road.
- All eastbound lanes except the HOV lane were reopened around 6 AM.
- Westbound lanes remain closed at Dysart Road while troopers investigate the collision.
- The closure is expected to remain in place throughout the morning.
