1 Dead, 1 Critical After SUV Crashes into Tree

Phoenix Police and Phoenix Fire crews responded to reports of a rollover crash.

Upon arrival, crews found an SUV that crashed through a fence and struck a tree.

Fire crews found two occupants trapped inside the SUV.

Several additional firefighters responded to the scene to assist with extrication.

One occupant was cut from the vehicle and transported to a local trauma center in critical condition.

The second occupant was extricated and pronounced deceased on the scene.

Detectives are currently on the scene investigating the incident.

Encanto Blvd is closed between 59th Avenue and 60th Lane.

The closure is expected to remain in place for several hours.
